Cretan Diet : how it works and why it is so effective ?

Cretan diet plan (sometimes called the Mediterranean diet) :
In 1956, a World Health Organization (WHO) study comparing life expectancies in developed countries, found that—surprisingly-- the highest score was in Crete.

Cretan people tend to live longer than others because they suffer less on average from cardiovascular disease (6% of the Crete's population die from thise disease vs. 40% in other developed countries).

Why ? Their alimentation is rich in vitamins C and E, both of which are excellent in slowing cellular oxidation, the cause of celluar aging and cardiovascular diseases (cancer, infarctus...).
