French Diet : The fourth phase of the Dukan diet : Phase Stabilization

This is the last phase of Dukan diet, the most important because it should prevent the return of lost pounds (“yoyo effect”) and maintain a stable weight.

-The fourth phase must extend all the rest of your life and reflect a balanced diet and healthy food habits.

-It is to keep one day a week of pure proteins,

-Eat oat bran.

* The two principles of the stabilization phase of Dukan diet :

One day per week of protein to help you regain your weight. Date to be fixed for not having to postpone indefinitely.

Thursday is often the day chosen to cut the protein week.

To further stabilize your weight, 3 tablespoons of oat bran per day are recommended for their intake of soluble fiber.

The stabilization phase does not really burdensome restrictions but relies on a new food hygiene.

Example of a typical day of phase pure proteins (PP):

Breakfast:

• Coffee or tea

• One or two low-fat yoghurt or 200 g of cottage cheese.

• A slice of turkey or lean ham or an egg shell or a pudding or a cake of oat bran.

Lunch and dinner:

• An input type protein surimi, crab, chicken livers, salmon, boiled eggs ...

• A flat-protein meat (veal, beef, horses), poultry (turkey, chicken, rabbit), fish or shellfish (mussels Jacques scallops, crab, crab ...).

• A dessert yogurt or cottage cheese or a pudding or a cake of oat bran.

Throughout the Dukan diet and even after it is important to drink at least 1.5 L of water daily.

Caution :

Like any plan, the Dukan has drawbacks and can create deficiencies. Any plan requires the advice of your physician or followed by a nutritionist.

The disadvantages of Dukan diet :

The weight loss of the first phase is too fast and too far: this phase causes of deficiencies of vitamins, minerals and fiber that are not available: it is sometimes advisable to bring vitamins and minerals.

Risks of fatigue by eating only protein during the 1st phase and consuming a lot of protein afterwards.

Fatigue due to rapid weight loss.

Constipation, because the regime lacks fiber.

Risk of early resumption of weight because of the rapid loss of weight, the risk of the yo-yo effect is not negligible.

A too low intake of fat.
