Low glycemic diets : get rid of the bad sugar !

Low glycemic diets :This kind of diet is almost unrestricted. The goal is to distinguish good and bad carbohydrates through the glycemic index (GI).

This tool measures the impact of food on blood glucose, ie the amount of sugar in the blood. To lose weight, you should select low GI foods.

The advantage of this diet plans is that you will never feel hungry. Even if one has to eat in reasonable quantities, you can very well eat 3 slices of buttered bread in the morning ... The trick is to pick the right kind of bread. This diet has to do with good food choice.

Glycemic index and glycemic load

To help you avoid food with high sugar content, you can refer to the glycemic index (GI), or more specifically the glycemic load. While the glycemic index is a measure of quality carbohydrates, glycemic load considers the amount of carbohydrates in food.

The glycemic load is calculated per unit and 1 unit corresponds to 1 g of glucose. But the index remains a basic reference (GI of glucose is equal to 100, a GI> 70 is high, a GI between 50 and 70 is moderate and GI <50 is low).

Sugars(white or red, honey, maple syrup ...), white flour (white bread, overcooked pasta, white rice, muffins, pastries, refined breakfast cereals and sweet), potatoes (especially mashed and fries) and all soft drinks (sodas, fruit juice industrial ..) have a high glycemic index.

A high intake of these foods leads to an increased level of sugar in blood. The body then releases insulin, the hormone may trigger weight gain.

Low GI foods

By eating low GI food, the body uses fat as an energy source. Low GI food are whole grains and mixed (multi-grain bread, brown rice or basmati, pasta cooked al dente ..), green vegetables, lentils, beans, oatmeal, granola, fruits, extracts sweetener natural (agave syrup, stevia plant in the Pacific, dark chocolate over 70% cocoa …)

Namely, garlic, onion and shallots, help reduce insulin peaks. The goal: not to exceed 80 units CG / day. FYI, carrots provide two, pancakes 2, salmon 0, lasagna 30.
